You can’t visit the capital city without taking in the views at Wat Phra Kaew and the Grand Palace, the former home of the monarchy. The real draw here is, of course, the famed Emerald Buddha statue. You’ll find it situated atop an elevated altar surrounded by golden decorations and two giant, mythical guardians. Oddly enough, the amount of adornment can make it difficult to get a clear view of one of the country’s most significant attractions.
You’ll also want to hop over and check out the enormous reclining Buddha statue and perhaps make a return visit at night to see the enormous golden spires of the Wat lit up at night. You can view them from miles away if you can fined a great skyline view.
