Packing for a Tour In the Caribbean

It’s time for an island vacation! There’s never a better time to enjoy a nice warm Caribbean holiday than in the freezing US winter. So, what should be on your Caribbean packing list if you’re going for a tour?
Packing for a cruise
If you’re heading off on a cruise, lucky you! Cruises are a great way to see the islands, but they do have a few guidelines you’ll need to take note of.
When making a cruise packing list, the first thing you have to check is what’s the dress code on your chosen cruise. Some cruise lines have a very casual dress code, while others require that you be in semi-formal wear before you can get into the restaurant.

Pro-tip: Treat your cruise like a luxury getaway and it’ll make packing easier.
On a cruise, this means packing multi-use pieces such as sarongs, a pair of flip-flops, maybe a pair of dress shoes, smart khakis and polo tees! We recommend using the Pacsafe Toursafe™ EXP21 anti-theft wheeled carry-on, and pairing it with the Pacsafe Metrosafe™ LS150 anti-theft sling backpack for those off-ship excursions!

Pro-tip: Pack the Pacsafe Pouchsafe™ PX25 anti-theft packable tote before you go! At the end of your vacation, you can carry your fragile souvenirs or incidentals in the Pouchsafe, leaving you with more space in your Toursafe for larger souvenirs or clothes.
Packing for day trips and island tours
Just flying in to enjoy the sun, sea and sand? Then your Caribbean packing list just got MUCH shorter.
For guys, check out Chris’ guide to packing in 5 minutes – all you really need are just the essentials. For girls, skip the heels and take a pair of comfy non-slip sandals instead. Keep jewellry to a minimum and make sure you bring an extra hat to keep out the sun. Pack light, airy clothes but bring a cardigan or two for those chilly beach nights.
If you’re not used to the tropical sun, it pays to be prepared. Bring lots of sunscreen, some after-sun care, and as weird as it sounds, some aloe vera gel if you can find it! If you spent too much time in the sun, slathering on some aloe vera actually helps prevent sunburn if applied quickly.

Pro-tip: Skip the tourist locations and sign up for a day tour to visit these hidden destinations! For these, make sure you bring a good pair of walking shoes, sunscreen, and a change of clothes for ultimate comfort. Pack ‘em all in the Pacsafe Camsafe® V25 anti-theft camera backpack.
Packing reminder
Before packing, you should always double-check your travel itinerary! Not only does it reduce your packing stress, but it also lets you plan whether you’ll be joining the cruise’s day tour or getting your own tour guide. Additionally, your Caribbean vacation checklist should always include some extra cash for tipping and after-sun care to protect your skin.

Pro-tip: If you plan to leave your belongings in the cabin or room but there’s no safe, get the Pacsafe Travelsafe® 5L GII portable safe. You can hook it to the sink or discreetly under the bed for extra security while keeping your valuables secure.
