The castle sits on a rock jutting out into the ocean and legend goes that you can see the ghosts of young lovers Aileen and Turough O’Boyle rowing their boat along the shores. They’re kind of like the Irish Romeo and Juliet, if Juliet’s dad had slashed Romeo to death with a sword and Juliet jumped out a tower window to her death in her grief.
